I have really enjoyed learning about the second world war, but would love to learn about the first. I know Ferdinand was assassinated, but I wanted to delve deeper than that e.g. tensions between powers, wars that maybe encouraged it.
I'm sorry if I come across ignorant. I am just eager to get a good prelude to WW1 and understand the factors that caused it before delving into the actual war. Thank you to anyone who replies!

The one I'd particularly recommend is Christopher Clark's Sleepwalkers, which is probably the most friendly to someone with very little knowledge of the subject, although it does get a bit bogged down in Balkan politics in some places.
