This is to add that I am aware of the minor conflicts during the collapse to some small extent. However, Russia never suffered from a calamitous civil war such as was seen in Yugoslavia for example. Was it partly due to the lack of ethnic diversity? Or was there no true communist opposition to the federalist aspect of Russian society willing to withstand transition or change?
