My dad gave me my great grandpas WW2 jacket and I'm trying to identify the decorations. He was an American solider first of all, and he fought in the European theater. He appears to have been a sergeant or its WW2 equivalent at the time. He has like the three arrows pointing up and the two Simi circles underneath. I don't know what branch he was in, but under the collar theres a trapezoid embroidery with a golden circle and then a golden eagle in the gold circle. He also has two bar pins in the left Pocket, one with brown outer stripes, and green inside with some other colors that look like the flags of Italy and france. It also has a metal star in the center. The other pin is solid red, with three white stripes on either end. Can you tell me what any of this means?

If he was indeed in the US Army, then his rank was that of Technical Sergeant (T/Sgt). The trapezoid with the eagle is the Honorable Service Lapel Pin, also known as the Ruptured Duck. It’s hard to determine the ribbons without photos but you can search for WWII Service Ribbons and look at the charts.
