I have recently been shown a certificate of service for my Grandfather's Dog, Peggy, who was taken away during WW2 to be trained as a guard dog and then returned after the war with a letter and certificate, but, understandably it doesn't have much information in terms of what Peggy did during the war.
I'm curious if there are any records of where Peggy would have been sent during the war or what locations she was used to guard etc. I'd love to be able to have a clearer picture of what Peggy did during her time at war and to be able to tell my Grandmother, who is now 93, about Peggy at war.
The only information I know of her is that she was No.1080 and called Peggy, she would have come from Washington in Tyne and Wear, England. Does anyone know of any libraries, websites or records which would contain more detailed information about individual service dogs during WW2?
