I'm a young Russian man in USSR just graduated from an engineering university and I'm in love with the capitalist way of living. How hard it is for me to leave USSR and get a job in a western country like the US or the UK with a intermediate English level?

So, how hard was leaving USSR without being part of the party or being in a mission or something like that? Even if a soviet person was allowed to apply for a leaving permit, what was the chances of them getting one?
