I read in Wikipedia that there have been medieval accounts of the Acqua Alta in Venice.
Can anyone detail more on these accounts, of the Acqua Alta throughout the ages?
Who are the contemporary sources, what is the first record of the AA? Where can I learn more?
The source is "Historia Longobardorum" in which some maritime events of the 6th century are described as being catastrophic for the lagoon of Venice. One is the destruction of a town named Metamauco in 527, the other is the destruction of several streets in 589. There is another account for 1386 describing the phenomenon as "higher than usual".

"Storia dell'acqua alta a Venezia dal Medioevo all'Ottocento" (History of Acqua Alta from the middle ages to the 19th century) by Gianpietro Zucchetta is only in Italian, i think. So I don't know.
