In the US it was illegal in many states until the late 40s. It wasn't until 67 that the Warren court killed interracial marriage laws in the very appropriately named Loving v. Virigina. As the name implies, Virigina banned interracial marriage of all kinds and Richard Lovings (White) sued because he wanted to marry 'coloured'^^1 women Mildred Lovings.
That said, even if it was technically legal, legality doesnt mean morality and, depending on where you lived you could face a certainty that most didnt think it was acceptable. As Gallop mentions here, 4% approved in 58 and only 20% in 68! You can expect the south in general to be less friendly, not more, as they almost all held such laws until 67.
