Food Rationing During WW2

by motherpigeon

I'm in my last year of secondary school doing a research project on how food rationing was done during the second world war and what soldiers had to eat (specifically UK, US, AUS, NZ, or CAN). It's due in a week and I have found very little information on this topic. Does anyone have any information on this or can offer any links to articles that offer information? It would be greatly appreciated <3

A very good resource for you would be “The Taste of War” by Lizzie Collingham. It’s a relatively easy read but is a very comprehensive source on food and rationing during the Second World War. There are also some online resources to look at some of the recipes that were common for civilians in the Allied countries such as “the 1940s Experiment”. Searching for “k-rations” will also give you some good resources on US soldiers rations, as will the book I mentioned earlier. Good luck.
