Was there an effort by Wehrmacht officers to avoid areas with concentration camps when retreating west in the final years of WWII to avoid their soldiers seeing the atrocities?

I am aware of no such efforts, and given the rampant involvement of those same westward-fleeing Wehrmacht soldiers in war crimes including crimes related to the Holocaust on the Eastern Front, I can’t imagine any commanders would have wasted much time wringing their hands over it. Some of the camps were specifically guarded via delaying actions, in fact, to allow the camp guards time to try to dispose of evidence. Auschwitz was one, as I recall.
