The responses are removed by the mods because they don’t follow the set standards of the subreddit.

They’re usually bad jokes, guesses, or Wikipedia links.

Like said above, lots of things get deleted because they don't meet the requirements. But sometimes people will post an answer, then there'll be a better one and they'll delete it themselves. Recently there was a question about what we thought of the recent 1619 project of the New York Times on American history. I posted something, but then a link was posted to a previous deeper discussion that I hadn't seen, and I decided my post was redundant, So, off it went.

Responses which don't meet the rules of the subreddit are removed by moderators. Unfortunately because of how the reddit architecture works, you sometimes still get notifications for responses that are removed, but that is an issue to raise with the site admins.
