Hey everyone, I didn't know where else to post for this question so I hope this is the right place.
I've been trying to find an English version of Hitler's 1936 opening speech for the Olympics, but unfortunately I couldn't find any subtitles, could anyone please give me a link to said quote or kindly translate it?
The reason for this is because I'm working on a sci-fi story and I would like to make a reference that this was the first speech to be picked up in space (and yes I know, by the time it travels it'll be nothing but garbled static). It's just a random little thing with no significance in said story, but I love references.
He said "Ich verkünde die Spiele von Berlin zur Feier der XI. Olympiade neuer Zeitrechnung als eröffnet!" or in English: "I declare the Games of Berlin, celebrating the eleventh Olympiad of the new era, open." My translation.
You can find any number of YT videos with both sound and vision of that snippet, the only words Hitler spoke officially at the Berlin Olympics.
