Why are cultural depictions and study of the Black Death very Eurocentric?

The plague struck the Islamic world and China just as badly yet its cultural depictions is associated with medieval Europe. Every documentary of the Black Plague is almost entirely about Europe

There is in fact significant doubt as to how badly – if at all – the Black Death struck China, and a revisionist school of historians and epidemiologists has proposed that the pandemic may actually have had its origins in the vicinity of the Caspian Sea.
