Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
The time has come for the first digest of the new year! Get hyped for some awesome history, great write ups and a subreddit party! So grab a frosty tasty beverage of choice, sit down, settle in, and pass the January days with a small mountain of AskHistorians posts!
Start the year off on the right note by checking out the winners of Decembers Best of Vote!
Have you seen our awesome looking mascot and wondered just how many there are? Check them all out in What's the list of all the Snoos used in this subreddit?
Possibly my favorite thread of the week, and one of the few on this board where I can actually answer, was 2019 in Reading: Share Your Reading List from the Past Year, and Plans for the Next One!
The other contender for Best Thread of the week was The World May Be Celebrating 2020, But AskHistorians is Ringing in the New "Millenium". Year 2000 is Now Fair Game! WOO! Who doesn’t like a party thread? I wrote an answer! Using “sources”! Technically!
This weeks Floating Feature was Travel through time to share the history of 1482 through 1609! It's Volume VIII of 'The Story of Humankind'!
AskHistorians went to a Conference! Hurray! Thread isn’t much, but I just wanted to cheer. Our panelist did FANTASTIC! Check out the live tweets for an idea of what was going on.
Check out the Thursday R&R!
Then move on to the fun filled Friday Free For All!
And the Saturday Showcase with everybody’s favorite /u/Klesk_vs_Xaero!
That wraps us up for another fantastic week. Enjoy the reading and I’ll be back next Sunday.
A new year means a new run of fascinating, yet forgotten posts. Perhaps a wandering expert will take notice, or an interested examiner will dig up some info for these.
