Why do ancient civilizations, despite having limited or no interaction from one another, seems to have a pretty similar depictions of what a "dragon" is?

I'm aware that they have multiple names depending on their regions but some mythological creatures seem to look similar from one another.

Similarities I noticed:

  1. Mostly large. Probably Larger than any living creature today.
  2. Reptilian. Whether like lizard-like or serpentine
  3. Able to fly. Or Float.
