Asking for purposes of DND character, "hegde knight" themed or deserter/ survivor
would it be more strange to see lorica segmentata then other armor? Feasible for someone to upkeep?
what about lorica hamata? not too different from other chainmail hauberks?
adventuring around in broadly mediterranean, near east. europe areas
There is no evidence for lorica segmentata after the 4th century. Zero, none, zilch. Europeans didn't start working with plate again until the second half of the 13th century.
With the exception of certain cosmetic features, the hamata is not very different at all from the mail shirts worn throughout early medieval Europe. The hauberk is a slightly different garment, having skirts that reach to the knee.
