The goals of the wars were not same but it feels like they are two parts of the same war. Hitler had his own goals but the reason why he was supported by germans was that germans were hyped for revenge after World War I. The connection between those two wars are so strong and deep I can`t ignore it.
Hundred Years War was actually series of wars with peace times that occured at the medieval age but it is named so as if it was one big war that went for 100 years non-stop.
Same thing goes for the Cold War.
Can we claim the same thing or at least something similar for the World Wars ?
Yes and no, it has been done in at least two separate models, the Long War theory and the Second Thirty Years War theory. I explain both here.
As to your point about the 100 years war not actually being 100 years of continuous fighting, you're right and historians who focus on the late medieval period typically don't love the term. However they continue to use it for the reason I explain here which basically boils down to the fact that it's already a widely accepted and used term and we aren't in the business of renaming historical war because shit would very quickly become very confusing.
TL;DR - You could make a case for why they should be considered the same conflict and who knows, maybe in a few hundred years they will be. However, for now it creates more problems than it solves.
