The Spanish Flu didn't come from Spain. It probably came from China first, and its very lethal mutation came from the USA and spread to Europe and the rest of the world from there.
But it's known as the Spanish Flu because Spanish newspapers were not censored, Spain beeing neutral in WW1. Therefore Spanish newspaper were the first to talk about it and they openly talked about it, giving the real numbers of casualties for example.
