Just listend to the podcast from you guys at the AHA conference, and I thought you guys had some good points. In the opinion of the flairs here, what is the best way to expand people's historical horizons and introduce history from say South America or Indonesia?
We get a lot of questions here about daily life--especially in the unspoken framework of "What was it like to be me in ____?" I think focusing on more intimate history helps people connect to an era-area of the past.
Take, for example, my answer to Did people in the Middle Ages exercise? OP is most likely male and works out (or wishes he could get himself to work out), and there's an implicit people=>men in there, but I started my answer by looking at women.
If it were more my expertise, it would have been awesome to take "Middle Ages" there and run with the same era in China...Eastern woodlands North America...Australia...
