My mom bought an Iron Cross Medal while visiting Germany. I would like to know It's authenticity

by Homeless_Fatman

I don't have any pictures and I can't reach her at the moment so I can't ask questions or get more pictures. I searched online and couldn't find any medal that resembled this.

Is this authentic?

Thanks in advance

So that's not actually an Iron Cross medal, which might be why you couldn't find anything like it. It's an Honor Cross of the World War - commonly referred to as the "Hindenburg Cross."

The medal was first established by order of German President Paul von Hindenburg in 1934 (hence the nickname) and anyone who had served in the First World War (or their family if they had been killed) was eligible to receive it.

I can't testify to the authenticity of your mother's medal in particular, but they were issued in the millions and are not valuable. So I don't think that anyone would bother making counterfeits.
