What was the culture around smoking amongst Victorian and Edwardian upper class women?

Was it frowned upon for ladies to smoke in public back in those days in England? Did they smoke in their own time? It seems from what media I've seen of this period, only the men seemed to smoke. And I can't find anything about aristocratic women in that era smoking from simple googling.

This is for a short story I'm writing. If someone could help me out, that would be great!
