Granted the materials to produce it idely were probably less abundant, but is there any documentation of people experiencing phenomenons they had no explanation for, that in hindsight might have been just static electricity? I imagine if someone felt that tingling sensation and saw their hair raise on its own they might think it's magic or a religious sign
