Years ago, I was writing historical fiction based in Japan and was lucky enough to find the Handbook to Life in Medieval and Early Modern Japan For those who aren't familiar with it, it's like the Time Traveller's Guide series -- a brief portrait of how life was lived by ordinary people.

Now, I'm writing about the 1930's (mostly about America but with an eye on Europe and the Empire of Japan), and I could use something similar. All I've found is "The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life from Prohibition Through World War II", which is not well-reviewed on Amazon.
