Esteemed historians, for no reason having to do with recent news, if I wanted to learn more about the Spanish Flu what would you consider a good introductory book?
The Great Influenza by John M. Barry and Pale Rider: the Spanish Flu of 1918 and How it Changed the World by Laura Spinney are two popular histories (non-academic) of the epidemic that I found easily readable, engaging, and had solid information. If you're looking for books about the flu's effect in a certain region, there might be better books out there, but those are the two that stick out to me.
