I'm not here to insult or attack I just want to know the truth. They claim Byzantine empire was not real and that it actualy was Serbian Empire. To put it simply, territories of Byzantine empire were not Roman (eastern) but rather Serbian. And they also say that historians lied and made entire story/history of Byzantine up.
From what I know they did try to spread this information on english and to other parts of the world but they were laughed at as they put it.

Short answer: no.
The Byzantine Empire emerged gradually from the slow decline of the Roman Empire. The territories of the Byzantine Empire historically belonged to the Roman Empire, but over time it gradually emerged as a separate political entity:
In 330 AD Roman Emperor Constantine founded Constantinople as the new capital of the Roman Empire, the city was founded on the historical city of Byzantium (where the empire got its modern name).
In 364 AD the emperor Valentinian divided the Roman Empire into two administrative halves, he took the West and his brother Valens took the East.
When the Western half of the Roman Empire fell in 476 AD the eastern half endured. Technically they were still connected to the ancient Roman Empire, with many similarities but also many differences. The Byzantines called themselves “Romans”, they continued to use the Roman Legal code, there were some similarities with the Roman administration and government etc. However they also changed the official language to Greek and practiced Christianity (hence the Eastern Orthodox Church). They Byzantines considered themselves Romans.
(Don’t know much about Serbian history just general knowledge) The Serbs as a distinct political identity emerged following Slavic migrations in the 6th and 7th centuries AD, three to four centuries after the rise of the Byzantine Empire as it’s own political identity.
Many smaller Serbian states either were directly part of the Byzantine territory, or were vassal states. In 1346 Serbian king Stefan Dusan overran a large portion of Byzantine territory in the Balkans following a Byzantine civil war, but this “Empire” ended with the expansion of the Ottomans into the Balkans in 1371.
I don’t know exactly what the video claims but any claims that the Byzantine Empire wasn’t real or was really a Serbian Empire would be to suggest nearly 1,300 years of overwhelming archaeological and literary history is false. So either all of the archaeological and literary sources from over a thousand years is all in on a massive conspiracy theory, or someone has lied on a YouTube video.
There are a lot of people who make YouTube videos for the sole purpose of distorting historical truth for their own nationalist agendas. I’m assuming this is one of them and the original author of the YouTube video is trying to claim the Byzantines are false or really Serbian to try and glorify his own Serbian heritage. I’m sure Serbia has a very proud national history, but the Byzantine Empire is not one of them.
