Me and my dad have recently started watching the show Vikings and in it they form shield walls/barriers . Did they actually use this in combat ?
fighting in line is a pretty standart way of fighting in these times and for almost all of the medieval period.
But shield walls depicted in 'vikings' with 3 or 4 shields makings an impenetrable wall is pretty much bs like the rest of the show.
In fact almost everything you see on the show is wrong.
