The British had their own version of paperclip named "T Force" a group who forcibly abducted ex nazi scientists and technicians and put them to work in research programs after the war. They also abducted businessmen who were forced to reveal trade secrets and many of whom were interned for a number of years. The fight against communism took priority after the war and the public became focused on the Soviet threat so whilst there was still some animosity generally toward the Germans their role in combating the Soviets was seen as a higher priority. Von Brauns involvement in the missile programs of the Reich was simply glossed over and people were more focused on results and beating the Russians after the sputnik launch.
