Why did the Spanish flu of 1918 disappear and not become another seasonal flu?

The three answers I found that seemed valuable were:

  1. The virus mutated to be less of an issue.
  2. Public health policies became effective.
  3. All the hosts died off.

There was another suggestion that the human biology adapted, but that was rather contested.
