I’ve been thinking about the implications of the suspension of presidential campaigning and started to consider what things might look like if this national emergency happened in October instead of now (a real “October surprise.”). My thoughts turned to history. I know in times of war, elections still happen. Roosevelt’s winning a fourth term in ‘44 comes to mind. That lead me to wonder how soldiers voted or even obtained election news during that election.
