What did various socialist philosophers of the time (Marx, Engels, Bakunin, Kropotkin, ECT) think about the rise and fall of the Paris Commune (was it good? Why it failed? ECT). Just wondering.
As far as I know, they all loved it, but Marx and Engels thought it failed because it had been « too nice towards the bourgeoisie ». At the Haye Congress, when Marx came up with that conclusion, Bakunin got angry and accused Marx of endorsing a dictatorial system, and that got him banned from the First International.
Socialist thinker Blanqui was considered to be the main inspiration for the Paris Commune.
