It is generally considered the American Civil Rights Movement ended in 1968, following the passage of The Civil Rights Act of 1968, which included many fair housing provisions and the assassination of MLK.

Some scholars, however, consider Dr. Martin Luther King., Jr.’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech in 1967 as the “end” of the movement. There is not uniform agreement.
