AITA for leaving my family homeless to attempt to restore the rightful king after previous attempts failed?

by ArdnamurchanPoet

I [M, almost 50] left my respectable job as a school teacher to follow the call of my beknighted prince, whose birthright was so cruelly taken from him, and rise in rebellion against the Hanoverian Pretender. Though my status was recognized and I became the Prince's own tutor, our plans came to ruin. He was forced to leave Scotland at great personal risk and now travels to the courts of Europe, incognito, in search of succor and support for our cause. My own land has now been stolen from me and my wife and child live homeless in the hills. I, on the other hand, have been awarded a sum of money to publish a book of my poetry calling the clans to rebellion. Now is the time. We have the Spanish treasure, buried where it will be safe, and there has never been such unrest in all the land. I *must* play my part, even if my family suffers, right?

NTA. Sounds like you did the best thing! If your family isn't prepared to stick up for the one true king, then they deserve to be left behind.

Get in while you can and I'm sure your new buddy will give you a sweet spot at the top when this all blows over.

INFO: What made you feel this was the rightful king? Sounds like he lost once, what would make you think round 2 would be any different?
