I’m writing a piece about his life and I want to include primary sources to support my work. However I’m finding it extremely difficult to find primary sources that are written by, to, for or about Tokugawa Ieyasu or his achievements that is more that a passing mention (and not written by secondary sources). I’ve tried a number of English and Japanese archives, websites, photo galleries and books but I absolutely cannot don’t anything. Please point me in the right direction, the type of source or language of the place it’s held doesn’t bother me, as long as it’s primary!
You said you've searched Japanese archives so I'm assuming you can read Japanese.
How's your early-modern Japanese and your kanbun. Because that's what primary sources would be written in.
