Broad question regarding Confederate reactions to seeing black Union soldiers marching in uniform. How did these reactions differ among Confederate soldiers, as opposed civilians? Did these reactions differ by gender or social class? (For example, planters, versus townfolk, versus rural residents.) Are there any accounts of a black Union soldier meeting his onetime master?
