Why were nazi historians wanted to connect links between German people and ancient indo Iranian tribal communities of Aryan origin (from central Asia) ?

  1. Why did nazi party chose swastika as their symbol (when it's a ancient symbol of peace in Hinduism and Buddhism)?
  2. Why did they chose Aryan race/tribe (ancient central asian/Iranian) as their ideal why not some other race like Scandanavians or other European tribal community etc.
