I was reading up on the Royal Navy in the Second World War and saw that many of the famous capital ships ended up being scrapped after the war and were not preserved (BC renown, BB warspite etc.).
Surely these ships which such historical importance should've been preserved, at least one of them, why were so many scrapped?
More insight into this matter is always welcome; for the meantime, you may be interested in u/thefourthmaninaboat's answer to just this same question last month.
