Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has some links or knows some sources that they can pass along about Ancient Egyptian Jewelry, I’m writing an art history paper about the evolution of jewelry in ancient Egypt and its use as evidence of the culture’s evolution through time. Using my university’s article search I only seem to find a couple tidbits about specific pharaonic funerary goods, etc. Thank you in advance!
I found a few promising books about jewelry specifically with a search. You will probably need to look at Egyptian art in general. Also, such books are often organized not by object, but by material type (so gold or faience , e.g.). I once wrote a piece on LBA-Iron Age seals from North Syria and had a difficult time finding solid information about Egyptian seals. Just keep trying and don't be afraid of very old books in this case, even from the late 18th century. You will also probably have to dig into German and French sources, especially pre-war. Unfortunately I would normally recommend you just go to the area of the shelves in the library where Egyptian art books are located, but that will be difficult right now I imagine. But! Most of these are available (to me via my institution) online due to a special sharing initiative set in motion by the pandemic. I imagine it is also the same for you. Look them up on your uni's library system and look for links that mention temporary access.
