What happened to Old Zealand?

It's... still in the same spot as it always was- the southwest corner of the Netherlands (made up of all those little peninsulas and islands).

The first Europeans to "discover" Australia and New Zealand were Dutch- and the Dutch government eventually named these as New Holland and New Zeeland, after two provinces that were particularly involved in seafaring. But the Dutch never made any attempts to colonize those landmasses- and instead they both later came under the control of the British. New Holland was renamed completely, but with New Zeeland they just opted to anglicize the original name.
