Looking for suggestions on books about Chile

by Snowchill

Hello!

This is a bit of a niche ask I feel, but I'm looking for recommendations on the history of Chile. I'd like the book to be a general overview, preferably from before colonization to as close to today as possible, but if that's not possible then at least something that starts at Chile's revolution.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Look, I will give you the name of three authors who are foreigners, yet they were compulsory lectures while I was in the BA. We had their books in spanish, so I can only hope that you can find lectures from them in English.

  • Simon Collier. A British historian, he wrote the book Historia de Chile 1808-1994 which is used as a manual book (to know the succesion of events).
  • Peter Winn. American historian, he wrote La Revolución Chilena, a research and narrative of the three years of the government of Salvador Allende. I know, not the independence revolution, but it's something.
  • Leslie Betthel. British historian, he edited this giant compilation called Historia de América, that has 16 volumes. Volume nr 5 talks about the Independence Revolutions in Latin America.
