Does the FBI have historians on staff?

by Antifoundationalist

At one point I read an article that interviewed the official in-house historian of the CIA whose job was to archive and write about the institutional history the agency. Does anyone know if the FBI has a similar department with a public face I could contact?

The FBI's Office of Public Affairs has had people with the job of FBI Historian in the past (John F. Fox Jr. is the most recent one I can find in references, but it's from a few years back), since at least the 1980s. I do not know if there is currently someone in that position; the FBI's website has no information on this. But they may be the office you are looking for in any event.
