Not to discourage answers here, but /r/warcollege might be very useful to you, especially as this is a very broad question (it will vary by unit, nationality, theater, operation, time period and more). There are a number of frequent posters in that sub who specifically research the battle order and loadout of different troops in both wars (and other wars) and may well be able to provide excellent answers.
