While visiting Catacombs in Rome I recognized nothing that was inscribed on the walls except the name "Ciri". Where does this name originate and how does it relate to Italy or more specifically, Rome?

Ciri is the present passive infinitive of the verb cieĊ, meaning "to summon", "to set in motion" or "to act". So in present passive it could mean (semantically) "it is made available" or "it is made to happen."

I'm sure there's a proper classicist with more than my rudimentary Latin who could give you a better translation than me.
