I can find nothing taking about it, was Japan spared? Edit, meant medieval
There is always more to say, but, increasingly, historians of the Black Death have questioned whether it actually began in Asia, as has been commonly assumed until recently. There is limited evidence that it struck China and essentially none that it reached Japan.
This does not definitely mean it couldn't have got there, since as Ann Bowman Jannetta points out, Japanese historians paid remarkably little attention to the topic of epidemics in general as recently as the 1980s, and "the Japanese bibliographers" she contacted prior to writing her study Epidemics and Mortality in Early Modern Japan (1987) "politely suggested I would do well to study something else."
