In A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens relies heavily on the work of Thomas Carlyle. How does the work of Thomas Carlyle differ from modern consensus on the French Revolution?

You know, I have Thomas Carlyle's history of the French Revolution sitting on my bookshelf. I count A Tale of Two Cities as one of my favorite books of all time. And yet I've never managed to get around to cracking it open. Instead of giving you a half-assed assessment based on other people's summaries of Carlyle, I'd love to come back and answer this question after I've read it! I'll slate it into my next slot for reading!
