The letters to Musegh/Musel Mamikonian from Bahram Chobin and the response are documented in the work of Armenian historian Sebeos. In short, Musegh rejected Bahram's offer of an alliance. Also, Musegh wasn't a king, but the Marzban (governer) of Persian Armenia, so he was ruling Armenia on behalf of Sassanid king of kings.

Here is Musegh's response in Armenian From a recent publication of Sebeos's work:

«Թագավորությունը Աստծուց է, և ում կամեցավ՝ տվեց, բայց դու պետք է քեզ խղճաս և ոչ մեզ։ Եվ ճանաչեցի քեզ՝ որպես պոռոտախոս մարդու, և չես ապավինում Աստծուն, այլ մարտիկներիդ քաջությանն ու փղերի զորությանը։ Բայց ես քեզ ասում եմ, եթե Աստված կամենա, վաղը քո շուրջ կծավալվի քաջերի կռիվ, որոնք քեզ ու քո փղերի բազմության վրա պիտի ճայթեն իբրև երկնքի ամենահզոր ամպեր։ Վերևից ահագին պիտի ճայթի ու փայլատակի, և ճերմակ երիվարներվո ու հաստաբուն նիզակներով սպառազենները պիտի հարձակվեն քեզ վրա, պիտի մտնեն զորքերիդ բազմության մեջ իբրև շանթող հրի փայլատակումներ, որպեսզի շանթեն երկնքից մինչև երկիր, և այրեն դաշտերի խռիվները և դալար ու գոսացյալ անտառները։ Քանզի եթե Աստված կամենա, սաստիկ հողմը քո զորությունը տանելու է իբրև փոշի, իսկ արքունի գանձը կգնա արքունիք»։

And the English translation from the work of Robert Bedrosian (Chapter 3):

"God's compassion goes to whomever He grants it to. You should feel sorry for yourself, not for us. I have come to regard you as a boastful man, someone who takes comfort not in God, but in bravery and the strength of elephants. And now I say to you that if God so wills it, tomorrow you will be embroiled in a battle with braves who will explode upon you and your multitude of elephants like the most violent clouds in the sky. An enormous explosion will be heard from on High, and a flash of lightning, and armed men on white horses with unerring spears will attack you and pass through your hosts the way lightning does through an evergreen forest, burning [30] the branches as the bolts rain down from Heaven to earth [g38], burning the brush of the fields. For, should God will it, a whirlwind will carry off your might like dust, and the treasury of the court will return to the court."
