Hello everyone, I have to do a man essay on Turkey after the First World War, the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Attaturk regime. If anyone knows of any good source I would appreciate it.
It is my first time posting here, I hope this is the right place, and I apologize for my bad English, is not my native language and I helped myself with a translator.
Thank you very much in advance.
Hi - we as mods have approved this thread, because while this is a homework question, it is asking for clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself, which is fine according to our rules. This policy is further explained in this Rules Roundtable thread and this META Thread.
As a result, we'd also like to remind potential answerers to follow our rules on homework - please make sure that your answers focus appropriately on clarifications and detailing the resources that OP could be using.
Additionally, while users may be able to help you out with specifics relating to your question, we also have plenty of information on /r/AskHistorians on how to find and understand good sources in general. For instance, please check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which has a wealth of information that may be useful for finding and understanding information for your essay.
Hi there,
I will post a link to an older comment of mine where I list some biographies of Atatürk and general histories of Turkey that might interest you. I hope this helps and you can contact me if you need further help with sources.
By the way, do you mind if I ask you where you are from? In Turkey, people often talk about how people abroad read in schools about Atatürk but I believe this is the first time I actually see someone who studies these issues at school outside Turkey (supposing that you are not studying Turkish history at a university, of course).
