As far as I'm aware, it's only people outside of historical circles, but people talk about people like David Irving as if he is a revisionist historian
u/Elm11 had a pretty good answer to your question here . But more could always be said.
Most historians use the verb "revise" all the time, because there's always new information, or errors are noticed in research, or there are new interpretations from different points of view, etc. And so most of us resent the way it has now been applied to authors who stubbornly refuse to revise, to admit when they're in error. Irving is one example.
