Hi all, this is a VERY long stretch. Would anyone happen to have some knowledge on “Major” Mussenden Ebenezer Matthews, or know of historians/museum contacts in the Statesville, NC area? Mussenden is my 5th great-grandfather, and supposedly his Sabre is floating around somewhere. Ideally I’d love some photos and dimensions so I can make a replica for my household. For those unfamiliar, he has a neat story! He helped defend the colony of North Carolina against the British, and helped carve out Tennessee from the colony.
Perhaps another thought: would there have been a “standard issue” Sabre in 1780 for Lieutenants? I might could have a replica of one of those made as a worst case route.
