I've always wondered about this. I believe I read that the V1 and V2 projects were part of their nuclear program, as well. Is that true?
Aside from the other answer which links to a longer one, I will just clarify : the V-1/V-2 programs were not related to, or connected to, the nuclear program. The missiles they developed would not have been large enough to carry a nuclear payload in any event (nuclear weapons are heavy, and the Germans generally estimated that an atomic bomb would be even larger than what the Americans ended up making; it took much additional work in both making better rockets, and more compact nuclear weapons, before nukes could be mounted onto rockets).
