To what extent is (or isn't) Lords of Chaos (1998) considered a historiographically sound account of the heyday of the Norwegian black metal scene? Any recommendations for other histories of it in addition to/instead of LOC?

It’s received a lot of criticism for not portraying the personalities of the people involved accurately. Personally I’ve found it interesting to go straight to the source to learn more about the story. I.e. read euronymous’ old letters, check out Varg’s videos and blog posts, read legal documents, and watch/listen to interviews. I’m sure there are books that are considered more accurate but unfortunately I haven’t read any so I can’t recommend any
