So I'm a standard peasant in the "middle ages" and my lord or whomever raises up his levies to fight against whoever it is this time. Am I payed? Am I compensated? If I die will my family be told?

If you're a peasant subjected to the levy, you've likely got a bit more substance than you-the-Redditor might be thinking. More can always be said on this matter, especially since even just the European Middle Ages cover a lot of territory and What Goes in England is not necessarily What Goes in Holland, so anyone able to contribute is more than welcome to do so!
